Getting There
Book a flight to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and take a ride share from there. The festival takes place in multiple locations around Austin, so make sure you have plenty of money for ride shares; the city’s public transportation is pretty lackluster.
Lodging
All badge holders receive huge discounts on partner hotels. The festival has a handful of packages for a variety of budgets that showcase all that Austin has to offer. Contact their Project Manager for availability at 1-800-310-FEST. Otherwise, Austin is chock-full of hotels, hostels, Airbnbs and more. If you can afford it, your best bet is to stay downtown so you’re within walking distance to most venues.
Young Filmmakers Program
This is an awesome program that introduces the art of filmmaking and screenwriting to students ages 9-18. Austin Film Festival raises money for its various programs at the Film & Food Fundraising Party, which takes place the Wednesday before the festival.
Family-Friendly?
You bet! The festivals hosts a family series that is free and open to the public.
