Getting There
Crossing the Colorado River, Congress Avenue Bridge goes straight into and out of downtown Austin, with the historic Texas State Capitol further down the stretch. Parking is free in the TX DOT parking lots located at 150 East Riverside Drive.
Lodging
This is a one-day festival, so you may not need lodging. In case you’re visiting from out of town and want to explore Austin for the rest of the weekend, look for a hotel, hostel or Airbnb that’s close to Congress Avenue Bridge.
When will the bats take flight?
Organizers predict anytime between 7:00-8:45 p.m. Emergence can last up to half an hour.
Don’t be afraid!
The festival’s goal is bat awareness. Don’t think of them as scary creatures trying to give you rabies, but as an important part of our ecosystem.
Weather Preparation
This is Texas in the dead of summer. Drink lots of water, eat plenty of food (there are food and drink vendors on site), wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes.
