Everfest's Take

From the Organizer

The annual KlezmerQuerque festival is a three-day festival which happens during the first full weekend in March and features ‘klezmer’ dance and music which is rooted in the traditional wedding rituals of the Jews of Eastern Europe. KlezmerQuerque takes place in Albuquerque, New Mexico U.S.A. and is co-produced by Congregation Nahalat Shalom, The Nahalat Shalom Community Klezmer Band and dance troupe Rikud. The festival presents a wide variety of events for all ages, abilities and budgets including a free Friday evening opening event, concerts, dance parties, lecture-presentations, and “hands-on” workshops in klezmer music and dance for adults, children and families. Special guest artists known for their expertise in klezmer music, scholarship and dance are featured at all events throughout the weekend. KlezmerQuerque also features music and dance by several local klezmer bands, dancers and soloists. The festival was produced on Zoom in 2021 because of the pandemic. We are in-person only at the present time. Event prices range from free to $20.
