It’s time once again for one of Roswell and Chaves County’s favorite events! The Chile Cheese Festival! This year, the event will take place at the Eastern New Mexico State Fairgrounds on September 27 & 28, 2019. We are partnering with Roswell Hispano Chamber and Eastern New Mexico State Fair. Come have fun at the Piñata & Chile Cheese Festival Friday and Saturday, and stay for the Fair! Who’s ready to smell the wonderful aroma of fresh roasted chiles as it permeates the air in downtown Roswell? You can purchase all sorts of fresh fruits and vegetables, crafts, collectibles and of course the beautiful red ristras from Graves Farm! What would the festival be without cheese? Take a tour of the Leprino Cheese Plant (be sure to follow the strict dress code). This year there will be lots of new and exciting things to see and do! Make a Ristra of your own, pet a zebra or kangaroo, win the Regional Green Chile Stew Championship and take home the prize money along with a traveling trophy! There will be a chile eating contest, taco eating contest, and an ice cream eating contest. Ride the carnival rides, break a piñata, enjoy the "Flying J. Wranglers" and a host of amazing musicians. This, and more, is in the planning stages. As details are confirmed we will update information… it’s going to be a fun festival and a great fair! Note: Sept 27 & 28, during the 2 day festival gate entry and parking will be free. The full fair will open on Monday September 30 with normal gate entry prices at that time.
