Sauti za Busara is an annual music festival that takes place around the second weekend of February in Stone Town, Zanzibar. The festival is organised by Busara Promotions, a non-profit NGO. On three stages over four days, the festival attracts people from all over the world to celebrate African music, 100% live. Featuring upcoming and established artists, the festival showcases music from the African Continent and diaspora, highlighting music with cultural identity. Each afternoon, daily Movers & Shakers networking sessions offer opportunities for artists, managers, music promoters, media and other professionals to meet, connect and exchange. Tickets are available with 50% discount for all African passport-holders and EAC Residents. Further discounts are offered for Tanzanian nationals. Performance highlights over the years include Sampa the Great (Zambia), Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba (Mali), Nneka (Nigeria), Blitz the Ambassador (Ghana/USA), Cheikh Lô (Senegal), Mlimani Park Orchestra (Tanzania), BCUC (South Africa), Thandiswa (South Africa), Samba Mapangala (DRC), Kasai Allstars (DRC), Ba Cissoko (Guinea) and many more. BBC hails Sauti za Busara as 'one of Africa's best and most respected music events'. It’s also listed in CNN's ‘7 African music festivals you really have to see’.
