Historic German church located in west Columbus hosts 38th Brats & Crafts Festival, Friday, Aug. 5 through Sunday, Aug. 7. Hours are 4-9 p.m. Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Event includes live polka-style music and dancing, authentic and homemade German table fare, beer wagon, arts and crafts fair, children's games and an 1860s-era "base ball" game between the Ohio Village Muffins and the Lutheran Strikers (Saturday at 3 p.m.) Featured musical entertainment throughout the weekend provided by Ken and Mary Turbo Accordions Express, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Sauerkraut German Band, Germania Haus Kapelle’, Hilliard Community Band, Matt and Deb Emerick mime/juggling act, and the Columbus Maennerchor. The event concludes Sunday afternoon with a traditional German language worship service spoken and sung much like the church's nine founding families did in 1847.
