Everfest's Take

From the Organizer

Hailed by The New York Times as ‘a new cultural institution’, the World Science Festival – founded by renowned Physicist Professor Brian Greene and Emmy award-winning journalist Tracy Day – has been held annually in New York for a decade. World Science Festival explores and celebrates the entanglement of science and art through a curated program of thought-provoking conversations, inspiring theatrical and cinematic experiences, interactive workshops and engaging demonstrations. Queensland Museum Network has secured the exclusive licence to host World Science Festival in the Asia Pacific from 2016-21. The only global extension of this hugely popular initiative, World Science Festival Brisbane reinforces Queensland Museum’s position as a leader in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and engagement. World Science Festival Brisbane has been held twice, in 2016 and 2017, with amazing results including: • 300,000+ attendances. • Exclusive participation from luminaries in science and art including Emmy award winning actor Alan Alda, World Science Festival co-founder Brian Greene, Laureate Fellow Brian Schmidt, National Science Foundation director France Córdova, UN water guru András Szöllösi-Nagy and NASA astronaut Andrew Thomas. • Queensland premieres of Brian Greene’s Light Falls: Space, Time and an Obsession of Einstein, Alan Alda’s Dear Albert, Nick Payne’s Constellations and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in A Live Presentation of 2001: A Space Odyssey. World Science Festival Brisbane 2018 will be held from 21–25 March 2018.
