Central America is the narrow neck of land connecting the Western Hemisphere’s two large continents— South America and North America. Central America and its tropical climate split the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean. The countries that make up the region might be compact, but there’s no shortage of culture within them. From the Costa Rican cuisine and crystal clear waters along the coast of Belize, to the Mayan Ruins in Guatemala and gorgeous beaches of Panama, Central America is brimming with beautiful traditions and personality. And the festivals in Central America are great places to get a taste of the unique cultures of this continent connector—whether you’re amidst art installations at Envision Festival in San José, Costa Rica; celebrating Easter at Semana Santa in Antigua, Guatemala; or at any place in between.
