Labor Day, the first Monday of September, has been an American national holiday since Grover Cleveland made it so in 1884. In many other countries (more than 80 worldwide), "Labour Day" is often called International Workers' Day, which is observed on May 1. Labor Day marks the traditional end of Summer and begnning of school for many and is one of the three major summer holiday weekends for parties, vacations, and festivals.
