Five Reasons FYF Fest is Perfect for Angelenos (And You)

There's always room for improvement at every festival, so it goes without saying that last year’s FYF Fest wasn’t perfect. But we have high hopes for this year’s event because the organizers learned their lesson and listened to attendees in order to knock 2015 out of the park. After all, twelve years in, the two-day indie festival serves some of the best entertainment at $175 per ticket – quite the bargain in the current festival climate.

FYF celebrates everything Los Angeles residents (aka Angelenos) care about: diverse music, fashion, and food. How? Scrap basic hot dogs and pizza for vegan donuts, street tacos, and other hipster favorites. Sprinkle in edgy, fashionable attendees and a dash of eclectic music to match, for the perfect L.A. festival recipe.

Here are five reasons why FYF Fest is perfect for Angelenos, and possibly you, as well:

Food

It's no secret that Angelenos love their grub; the city has one of the most booming food scenes in the country. Over 100 Los Angeles food vendors will serve delectable treats at FYF this year. From Clara Cakes’ mouth-watering Mac n' Cheese Waffle (what?!) to Sage Organic Vegan Bistro’s Buffalo Cauliflower and everything in between, festival-goers will have plenty of options to choose from.

Have a bit of sweet tooth? Don’t miss Donut Friend’s S’Morrissey Donut (a chocolate cake donut filled with toasted marshmallows and topped with chocolate glaze), and Afters Ice Cream’s sprinkled-crusted ice cream waffle cones or their signature Milky Bun, which is a warm donut filled with ice cream and covered in (you guessed it) sprinkles.

Fashion

If you haven’t guessed already, L.A. is one of the forefronts of fashion in the U.S; and what better way to celebrate fashion than at a festival. You won’t find tutus or flower crowns here. Angelenos always dress to impress even if it takes braving cute black tops and bulky black boots. Last year’s FYF saw plenty of fashionable Angelenos, (http://www.teenvogue.com/gallery/fyf-fest-music-festival) and we can’t wait to see what they have in stores this year.

Diverse Music

There’s a big music scene here in L.A., from Echoplex’s Emo Night to Create and Exchange Nightclubs’ headlining EDM weekends. FYF Fest has quite a selection of music so there will be something for every Angeleno. Peep at the lineup here. (http://fyffest.com/artists)

L.A. Artists

In addition to the big names topping the bill at this year's fest (FKA Twigs, Frank Ocean, Morrissey, and more), there comes great pride in knowing artists from your own city will dominate festival stages as well. Think about it: How many times have you cheered extra loud when artists say they’re from your hometown? Show some pride for these Angelenos: Shlohmo, Joyce Manor, DJ Harvey, Goldroom, Health, Mikal Cronin, Kevin Morby, Junk, and of course, DJ Dodger Stadium. You can’t get any more L.A. than DJ Dodger Stadium.

Travel

It’s a big deal. We Angelenos don’t want to walk too far and we don’t want to deal with the traffic, on foot or otherwise. Luckily, FYF Fest has expanded the Metro service this year, so getting to the venue is but a hop and a skip away. On top of that the festival plopped a new walkway between the Main Stage and Lawn Stage. We applaud FYF Festival for listening to their festies.

We’re excited about so many things at FYF, especially these artists. What are you most excited about at FYF?
