Thousands of yogis and festies gathered this past weekend for Indonesia's charming BaliSpirit Festival, three relaxing days in Ubud filled with yoga, dance, music and poolside connecting. Instead of burning you out like many festivals do, BaliSpirit builds you up with a warm eye towards health, wellness, movement and connection. Of course, yoga. The festival's Bali locale is a popular destination for yoga retreats and practice; expect a huge chunk of fun yet restorative classes.
BaliSpirit's yin energy shines through beyond the mat. Activities like music and art classes, tours of local temples and spiritual sites, nutrition and health workshops, and a collection of family activities like Balinese dance for kids, circus tricks, and storytelling transform the festival, along with sounds from local gamelan orchestras, well-known world music stars and Balinese puppet shows.
