There's something to be said about a good festival totem. They simplify the process of locating your squad while simultaneously serving as lightning rods for cosmic energy on the dance floor.

You may already know that totems have been around for centuries. They were used by warriors to fly flags as they marched into battle in the Bronze Age. Totems are also used by Native American and African tribes to mark and identify sacred spaces. It seems that, across cultures, totems hold remarkable spiritual significance. So when we look to festival culture and the ways we connect with our friends at these events, it’s fun to imagine the forces at work that inspire such authentic displays of creativity – or what they can teach us if we take the time to listen.

We gathered up some of our favorites to inspire you to up your totem game.
