Parades are thrown for many reasons, whether in celebration or to honor a group or piece of history. The longest parade in the world is the Hanover Schützenfest which occurs in Hanover annually during the Schützenfest. Famous modern American parades include the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC and the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California, every New Year's Day.
